So, I'm just curious, but from the sounds of it, Intruder Alert sounds as though it will be a game set in a futuristic era, right?

Any idea on the factions of GPs or OPs? Maybe what type of soldiers or units you control or fight against?

From the http://www.indiedb.c...eralert/details
"IA! is also being built from the ground up to offer plenty of customization options and a unique playing experience each and every round."

As OP, we can create our nation ( a little bit recolor, I guess ), for the rebel side, we will create our avatars.

Hmm, maybe in the future or in the cold war, when everyone was paranoid as hell.

That sounds really awesome.

Loadouts are going to be important this time around, for both OPs and GPs. You'll get to do much more than just pick colours for OP units: you will be selecting your own set of units from a wide variety, and we might even be able to allow you to customize certain aspects of them (like their abilities, etc..). That way, each OP will be unique. :)

For GPs, you'll be able to customize the look of your avatar and have your own loadout here as well: selected weapons, items, etc.. And hopefully, with community-made content playing a big role, it'll be super easy to customize your avatar to look completely unique.

These are all plans, nothing concrete yet, but that's what we're working towards.

Ah, so you took my suggestion for Loadouts and such after all? Good to hear that, it will add much more diversity to the gameplay of IA than what Overwatch had.

Technically, that idea's been sitting on our internal forums since even before OW's first release, we just didn't get around to it with OW (but you know what they say, great minds think alike, right? :P)

IA!'s obviously different since (as an indie game), it'll need much more content to be worthy of its price tag, so we'll be working on this feature pretty early this time around.

Excuse me but everytimes I heard that I only saw the same loadout for every players : the "best one".....

Maybe I'm a bit strict but when I pay for a game it need to be good.

One loadout might be the best for one situation, or against a certain type of an enemy. Some loadouts might be slightly better than others on average, but if every player uses the same loadout, they are at a great risk if they're facing enemies that the loadout isn't particularly effective against.

Furthermore, if every player used the "best" loadout, the player(s) in the opposing team would know what they are using, and could pick their loadouts to efficiently counter them. There are a lot of variables that make a loadout good, and we'll make sure all choices are well in balance. :)

Yep, you need to keep in mind that IA! is both a co-op game and asymmetric. GPs need to work together to fight a common foe, and that foe has an entirely different fighting force. There is no single loadout that can be considered the "best", since every round is completely different.

You'll be picking the loadout that you like or that works best with your fighting style (i.e. assault vs stealth).

The same logic is applicable to the OP side loadouts as well.

Does this mean that for the overwatch side you can choose custom units just like in CoH or that you can actually choose the bosses that spawn?

I've only played CoH twice but I don't remember it giving you the option to pick custom units.

What it basically means is that you'll have a number of "slots" (kinda like an inventory), and you pick units to fill those slots. The boss, for example, is one of the slots you need to fill.

Then, based on the loadout you've selected, you can only use those units you picked during the round.

As long as nothing explodes, Jan/Feb is our target for a very early first release (pre-alpha). Posted Image

Hmm, found something about the artstyle:

"We've yet to announce IA!'s planned theme and art style to our community but will be doing so very soon. What we can mention here is that we're aiming for a NPR style similar to TF2, BF Heroes orAoE Online (nothing too realistic or too detailed, which should allow us to produce nice-looking assets at a quick enough pace)."

Seems pretty nice news.

Damn, I was hoping no one would see that. :P

We'll be posting about IA!'s planned theme and art style on IndieDB (and here) this weekend.

Ugh.... does this mean I have to learn how to develop for UDK just to upload community content?
