What better way to start off the new year than by announcing the winners of Overwatch's level design contest!
And they are:
• Honourable Mention #4
Prison (owc_prison) by The Joker : 70.50/100
A fortified Combine prison with a wide-range Communications Tower has been wreaking havoc on the nearby Rebel communications. Desperate to send out transmissions, the Rebels devise a plan to start a prison riot and sneak into the prison via a supply train, breach the facility, and destroy the Communications Tower.
If they fail, the Overwatch will launch a massive counter-attack and eradicate all organized Rebel forces in the outlying sectors. At all costs must the Rebels, or Overwatch, succeed.
• Third Place #3
Labs (owc_labs) by braddollar : 75.56/100
Deep underground the Overwatch was experimenting with an alien life form. There was a problem and the expirements got loose. One lab worker survived, but was infected with one of the experiments and transformed. The overwatch weaponized that experiment and now you need to find a cure.
Find the lab worker and speak with him, perhaps he can help.
• Second Place #2
Outbreak (owc_outbreak) by Instant Loser : 78.28/100
Rebels held in the cells of Nova Prospekt suddenly find the doors to their cells opened. Alone and without weapons, they must scavenge and band together if they have any hope of escaping alive.
• First Place #1
Traverse (owc_traverse) by SamC : 90.67/100
The rebels have been tasked with breaking into a Combine forward base on the outskirts of City 17 and hacking into their computer systems. The sector is heavily guarded, so getting to the base will be a challenge.
Note: Click on the level's name to see a development log of that map!

We would also like to thank the four remaining participants. They might not have won, but we still enjoyed playing their entries, and hope you will too once they are released!
• Remaining Entries
Acropolis (owc_acropolis) by Reaper
A team of rebels has discovered a route into the Citadel and are taking it by storm. The rebels must activate the doors before the radiation sweep kills them all.
Containment (owc_containment) by WAXT
Intelligence suggests the exsistence of a Combine lab deep within the walls of Nova Prospekt. They're creating something, a biological weapon. Your mission? Breach containment and destroy it.
The rebels have made their way into a secret Combine facility below the maximum security prison, Nova Prospekt. With power running only off emergency generators and security systems disabled, their task is simple. Destroy the threat and escape within seven minutes.
Jailbreak (owc_jailbreak) by Deer
Resistance forces are being held captive within a high security prison created by the Combine.
During one of the supply deliveries from a truck, the Resistance managed to escape their cells and hijack the supplies. Now with all of them armed and suited up, not only are they planning on escaping the prison, but they also aim to shut it down.
Quarry (owc_quarry) by Jgoodroad
An old Quarry has been made home to a combine outpost, this particular outpost happens to be the main supplier of combine metals to the Easter quarter.
Production must be stopped. It is your squad's job to infiltrate the outpost and disable the security protocols and create general havok. Thus allowing the main Rebel forces to attack the base.

There's More!
Over the coming weeks, we will be working closely with the original designers to help them tweak and improve their levels and prepare them all for a first release in one of Overwatch's upcoming updates.
These maps will go through the same "phased" updates as our own. Once released, we will be counting on you to report any bugs found and to post as much feedback as possible (in the new forum/bug tracker sections we will be opening).
Stay tuned!

I CALLED IT!
As soon as I realized Sam was Uncle Sam, creator of "A brief detour" one of the best SP maps ever made, I knew that chap would win... I also gave up all hope at that point.

There really is no place for drama in game dev (specially when you're doing it as a hobby). You could have easily placed in the top 3.

His map was 'short and sweet', mine came out large and poorly optimized.
but I have no regrets.

I judged each map on layout / optimization / how well each side played for gm / rebels.
Your map could have easily been in the top but it was plagued by a few things (mentioned in our notes).
I personally am looking forward to a fixed up version of your map

I thought there were strict percentages for judging each aspect...

outbreak was my favourite map. I don't know why there is a 12 point difference between your map and the first place. Traverse looks fine and nearly finished, okay but your map had some really really cool ideas and is way bigger.
And @all:
The feedback i gave... do the mappers receive it, too?
I think my personal order would be: 1. Outbreak 2. Traverse 3. Quarry
