Speed Hacks

Posted by Ryan7259 on 22 August 2010 - 01:29 AM

So, recently this player was caught on a server using speed hacks. He kept bragging about being the 1st hacker. So some of the other players said you're one the first to be possibly vac banned from this mod. He also did not know I was secretly recording him. Here's his profile link *** LINK REMOVED ***. He goes by <<CG>> The Booty Monster on the servers. If you want proof, then you'll have to wait for the video to upload.

That's not hack, it's sv_cheats 1. All those people come from such sites: *** LINK REMOVED ***
The point is to use sourcemod and source engine bug to force sv_cheats 1 on client side, sadly, you won't get vac ban for this.
Solution is easy, install sourcemod on server and any plugin that blocks sv_cheats 1 (kick/ban out people), example:

Or write your own plugin:

Thanks for the links Tom, they are a very helpful to us sorting out this issue. Though please try and avoid posting links that are direct instructions on preforming such exploits, it would be better if you Private Message them directly to myself or Andy so we can add them internally to help our investigation while not providing extremely exploitive instructions to the public.

Thanks!

changed status to: Resolved - Fixed
changed fixed-in version to: 1.3.6

This should be resolved on servers hosted by us.

We basically enabled some SM anti-cheat plugins that should block this exploit. Server admins will need to use the same plugins on their servers as well:
