Happy Friday!

So far, we've covered Overwatch Love & Favourite Features and Sides & Least Favourite Features in our epic feedback series. It's now time for part three, so hold on to your butts hats!

⇒ Question #3

How tired are you of the SMG? The use of big words and strong adjectives is authorized (but keep it clean, squeaky clean, squeaky).

⇒ Question #2

How can the Co-op elements be improved for Ground Players (Resistance)? In other words, what can we do in-game to encourage players to play more cooperatively?

⇒ Question #1

What two (or more) features would you like to see added to the Ground Players side (Resistance)? Note that the features you list in your answer must not be specific to the Half-Life 2 universe.

⇒ Question #0

What are your thoughts so far on this Feedback Series?

Upcoming Questions: What two features would you like to see added to the Overhead Players side?

Weird question sequence. Trolling AndY sure is trolling. But I will answer them, of course.

I am not tired of it, but it's not like I use it. I rarely use it. The shotgun overrules the smg on every front except sniping combine off.

Maybe add more roles. Or place a limit on a particular weapon, like 3 shotguns and 3 smg's. Also see TheJokers loadout thread.

- Again, the loadout.
- Maybe more roles.

I find it to be a good initiative, as you devs can clearly see what we want/hate/like.

I'm gonna be really annoying here now and just post my thoughts on the questions I've seen. Most have been answered by others so there is no point repeating what others have already said.

Firstly, I fully agree that a weapon load out system would be a great idea. Not only would it mean that Resistance would need to adopt more tactical thinking depending on the weapon, but also that it may improve Co-Operation between players (Maybe. This is all passive thoughts that would probably need to be tested ingame to see if changes to the weapon load out made any difference at all.) If we went with a previously mentioned system (Primary, Pistol, Melee, Grenade, Role item) then additional weapons may need to be added to actually make that work.

Another thought I just had, make hacking a console a little more difficult for Resistance; Either, make it so the player must be stood physically touching the console to hack (or holding the use button whilst facing it?) because it would mean that other players would need to defend the hacking player. (This could then introduce a new role in the team; a Technician/Hacker type class that can hack consoles faster. Could give him additional features to make the class more worth while?)

I would definately give the Overwatch more features/abilities.
More spawnable Combine classes too? Stalkers, Hunters, Rollermines, Striders...

More goals in the maps; i.e. Destroying the Combine helicopter in the Canals is a requirement to complete the map?

That's all I can think of at the moment. Apologies for the strange post.
Thanks for a fantastic mod guys! I will probably join the Overwatch Community Play Events this weekend, so should you join in, See you there! :)

0. I mean, is that important to know that your asking what the community wants? That your trying to actually listen to what Overwatch needs?*full sarcasm intended, I think the feedback series is good*

1. A loadout system. Uhhhh can't think of anything else. What else do you need?

2. A loadout system, you can go read about it from my thread. Maybe one or two more roles, similiar to a "Sniper" or "Demolitionist" to vary things up more.

3. I am not tired of it. Its a standard issue sub-machine gun, a general-purpose weapon. Nothing amazing, but nothing that is terrible either. A very versatile weapon.

How tired are you of the SMG? The use of big words and strong adjectives is authorized (but keep it clean, squeaky clean, squeaky).

In most games In which I partake I usually refrain from using the SMG, the use of which I find hinders my ability to aid my teammates and massacre suitable amounts of hostile units. Thusly, I only use the pistol for long-range and rapid fire shooting, and the shotgun for pure stopping power. (Mh, It said to use big words, so I tried. Basically, I don't use it much.)

How can the Co-op elements be improved for Ground Players (Resistance)? In other words, what can we do in-game to encourage players to play more cooperatively?
Hmm. Tough part with this one is that having too much team-oriented gameplay will make it nearly impossible for smaller groups of one or two players, which are common except on the weekend events. I would say simply provide more bonuses for teamwork. Perhaps a bonus similar to the ubarcharge for the medic, although that will have to be changed to more suit Overwatch. Stuff like that.

What two (or more) features would you like to see added to the Ground Players side (Resistance)? Note that the features you list in your answer must not be specific to the Half-Life 2 universe.
I'm guessing on what "not specific to the HL2 universe" means. But as I said above, teamwork bonuses would be good as well as, jsut a personal opinion, a toggleable ironsight system. I've played/seen a few mods with that and liked it, but that's just my opinion. Obviously other things are more important, but it's the only other thing that I could think of for the rebel side that I would like.

What are your thoughts so far on this Feedback Series?

Assuming the devs use the information (I have no doubts that they will), very good. I expect great things to come out of this, the community is always right in what they want.

Awesome-sauce. Simple surveys like these allow the community to actively voice their issues/opinions/ideas directly to the development team and reassure us (the community) that progress is being made towards our interests. The layout is clear/simple and there is no ambiguity in the questions. Best of all, the surveys are easy to complete and they spark open debates (such as the Joker's weapon-slot thread) within the community forums.

  • Definitely a weapon-slot system. This feature has been discussed many times within the forums and is clearly a very popular topic of late. It really should be priority one for Resistance features.
  • More Medic powers. (This idea was put forward quite a while ago.) The medic should be able to revive players at a much faster rate than the other rebels, thus allowing them to better fulfill their role as a medic.
  • Riot Shield/Defender make-over. Before more roles are added, such as the "Sniper" or "Demolitionist", the existing roles (particularly the Defender) should be given a more complete make-over. For example, the Defender could do with:
    • A proper Riot Shield model.
    • A unique player skin.
    • A more complex combat scheme; the Defender should keep the shield up unless a two-handed weapon (SMG or shotgun) is currently equipped. In other words, the Defender should be able to fire a pistol or throw a grenade whilst still holding the shield. -It just makes sense.
    • A shield-bash attack. (Perhaps a little over-the-top but open for debate.) The Defender could have a secondary attack (right-click), with the shield equipped, which allows the player to knock back an enemy inflicting no more than five hit-points of damage. Use is primarily for strategic reasons. The Defender cannot shield-bash whilst a grenade is equipped (using the complex combat scheme mentioned above) for safety reasons.

Allow for more player individuality. The current player roles are already a fine example of this. For example, the Defender is the only player that can disable a turrent (in Breach) without taking significant damage and the Medic is always on call to heal wounded combatants. The best way to add more co-operation elements to Overwatch is to make each player unique through the use of Roles and a new weapon system (as previously mentioned).

This is a hard question. It has gotten boring over a while, but the grenade launcher in the sub-machine gun is much easier crowd control than using grenades.

For medics, a way to quickly identify injured players. All medics have right now is identifying players by aiming. It's a real pain because we have to not only look at their names and what percentage their health is. This has caused me the pain of noticing someone in a large group is injured, but I wasn't quick enough to identify who, and he's now lost in a group of 6 rebels calling out for medic. Here I am constantly aiming at all of my teammates trying to find which one is hurt and calling for me.

Defenders could use a way to notify when a player is hiding behind them. All the time in Breach I'll see someone grab the shield and then run to the first hacking point, hide in the corner and pull up their shield. Yea, they're still hacking and doing something productive, but they're leaving everyone exposed and that's not what the Defenders are for. If they could have some way to inform them there's a player behind them, maybe it will me more of a clue for them to pull out the shield and cover them.

I would like the green arrows above a player's head to change in color depending on the color of the player's health so Medics can easily identify who is injured from a busy crowd.

For the second, I would also like some sort of identifier for the Defender, (such as a circle over the cross hair) to inform the player that there is a teammate behind him. Any kind of identifier would be nice. It would be a nice reminder to the player of his responsibilities as a Defender.

⇒ Question #3

SMG is a useful backup weapon. I pretty much only use it when I'm fighting Combine at range, trying to conserve shotgun ammo, or using a rifle grenade.

⇒ Question #2

The whole loadout concept is a bit of a "tough love" solution to the problem, but it works. Maybe if you took a good look at the Left 4 Dead games. Another thing that would help immensely is tweaking some of your maps so that once you hit a certain player limit, it is impossible to complete the map without at least a couple of your allies. That way you don't get someone who thinks he's "pro" abandoning the rest of his team under the illusion that they're 'holding him back'.

⇒ Question #1

A role item to improve player mobility.
More [types] grenades.

⇒ Question #0

Its a good thing. You're coming directly to your community and seeing what they want.

Answer #0 : I prefer to wait before telling my opinion. I mean, the feedback idea is a good one, but I don't know if we will be able to say everything we wanted to say and if the devs will heard us (and I think yes :D)

Answer #1 :
- Something for the medic to know who is hurt (the idea of the arrow change color depending of the player's health seems good) and who's calling him.
- A button to call a medic faster (like in TF2)
- One or 2 more roles
- Be able to see the player's avatar above the player's arrow to know who is who easely (or at least, his name).

Answer #2 : To be honest, the coop is actually good, nothing to say.

Answer #3 : Tired of what ? The SMG is a good and balanced weapon so why change this ? (But maybe the grenade laucher of the SMG is a bit too easy to use.)

I think the SMG is a good weapon, but the shotgun is more effective in the maps, maybe limiting the shotguns will be perfect. Anyway, I want to see some more firepower, I mean an alternative of the SMG.

How can the Co-op elements be improved for Ground Players (Resistance)? In other words, what can we do in-game to encourage players to play more cooperatively?
Limitng the health, more roles, removing the ammo pack from the maps, and create an ammo adder role.

What two (or more) features would you like to see added to the Ground Players side (Resistance)? Note that the features you list in your answer must not be specific to the Half-Life 2 universe.
-Weapon slot system
-more roles
-little bit tactically style

What are your thoughts so far on this Feedback Series?
I think it is pretty good for me :D
