Two Overwatch Classes Sudgestion

Backpage's Photo Backpage 10 Jun 2011

Two Overwatch Classes
1. Overwatch command, This class commands the units, the one we have at the moment
2. Overwatch Ground Unit, This class is basically an FPS perspective, You fight rebels, As some people prefer FPS to strategy.

I think this would be a good idea mainly because i've seen a few people complain about why the game isnt FPS on overwatch side.

Well, I would like it if the OW ground unit could take control of random units and control them for an fps perspective.

BTW this got added to the forums very late

Its a good idea at its core, but it gets tricky as when you consider that while the Overwatch is being a Combine Soldier, no one is at the command hub. That simply cannot do.

However, we cannot have someone else be an FPS combine soldier because trading one Rebel for a smart Combine would cause imbalance.

IDEA!
How about the for the "boss fight" areas only. When the Overwatch summons a boss like a Strider or a Hunter-Chopper, he can choose to directly control it. He has the option to call some meager reinforcements or other map-based actions, but he cannot control his soldiers until the "boss" dies.

Well I think he means there are 2 people in the overwatch team. And that other guy will be chosen in the beginning of the match. The boss fight idea is good, but it would need a lot of work on the programming side. Would it also be op if a player is controlling a strider? Would a Hunter-Chopper be easily controllable and not have those buttfucking controls of a flight simulator?

Sure it would be hell to program, but it would be a very fun addition to the game. Both the Strider and Hunter-Chopper would have overheat meters so the player could only fire in bursts.

The Strider's gun would get more accurate as he continued firing. The Hunter-Chopper's gun would have to spin-up before it could shoot.

The Hunter-Chopper would have simple controls:
W: Forward
S: Backwards
A: Strafe Left
D: Strafe Right
E: Up
Q: Down
Mouse: Aim and Turn
M1: Shoot

Of course, you would turn slowly as the Hunter-Chopper and you would have to aim past a certain area of the screen to make the Strider turn.
