You could do the virtualdub way, but if you have sony vegas, you might as well do the sony vegas way.

Well, thanks for the help,, but I'm gonna have to give up. I tried to use Virtualdub, but that too caused my graphics drivers to crash, possibly because I had 30 gigabytes worth of frames.

Before it died, I did manage to get a short video of the dropship landing using Fraps, Although it's pretty useless as a demonstration.

Random interesting tidbit: Ever since I lost a huge map due to a strange error, I've been obsessively saving backup copies of every map i've made. The current copy of this one is "Owc_Superfortress_Q" I started with A, meaning I've made 17(?) backups.

I've been complaining about this for weeks. There's no workaround. You'll have to put a clip brush inside it, which will fix the problem, but also stop bullets. There's no way to make the GM clicks hit something but not bullets.

NPC clip?

Nope. Actually, clip brushes don't even work. I just made the brushes solid, so the problem is fixed.

Wait, does OWC stand for Overwatch Community or Overwatch Contest? I assumed it meant Community, but I just realized it might be the other, i'm not sure.

OWC stands for Overwatch Community, which really represents a map made by the community(member/members)for the community and for the mod(if the devs decide to annex it and make it in the mod officially).

I haven't had time to talk to AndY, I plan on it today. I also have a friend who's willing to set up a server.

Okay, I talked with AndY, and It'll probably be in the dev build tomorrowish, in time for the community playtime.

And if it is in the dev build tomorrow, could I make a video? There won't be any sounds from the game as my soundcard sucks in recordings.

Sure, go ahead.

Okay, I think NPC spawn scaling is all done, but my wireless adapter is having problems, Right now I have to hook up manually using a cable. So I might not be there on the playtime unless it gets fixed.

Oh geez, I'm sorry. It actually does seem to work, I have no Idea why I thought it wasn't working. My apologies.

Anyways, bad news. Due to the failing internet, I haven't been able to contact AndY and get the map in SVN, so no playtesting this week. :(

Okay, Self_esteem_fund got a server working, but it turns out my map doesn't like dedicated servers. Shotgun soldier spawns create SMG soldiers, areaportals/areaportal_ows mess up and the dropship, while it does eventually land, takes much longer to do so and just spazzes around on the ground for a while.

Also, the map randomly concluded a Round end: Draw even there are no game_end_ow entities that end the match in a draw.

In my opinion, the errors are not likely to be with the dedicated server. If they are, I believe your friend had some settings or something wrong. Make sure to double-check your entities and such to make sure it all works out. As for the areaportals, I'm not sure you can use areaportals for the OW, wouldn't that be kind of weird? It might be there reason it messed up. Also make sure your map doesn't have leaks, and double check your "pointfiles" to find if there is one.

Self_esteem_fund provided a link to download in his status update, it seems the map download isn't working. I'll also upload a zip file as an attachment to the first post after I fix the errors.

Well, the errors don't happen when I don't play on a dedicated server, shotgun spawns are normal and the dropship works fine.
Wow, nevermind. I guess I did screw something up with the map. I'll fix that and then give him an updated copy.

And the area portal problem isn't for the GM or anything, it's just that they act closed for the rebels even when they're open. I tried both func_areaportal and func_areaportal_ow. I'll mess around and see if I find some sort of problem, maybe I do have an areaportal leak.

For the areaportals, double check if they are attached to doors or anything of that sort.

Nope, it wasn't doors, but I had this areaportal leak because of the fact that I forgot that the map loops around with pathways, and one of said paths wasn't areaportaled.

Should be fixed now/

and the zip file is too big to upload, so Self_Esteem_fund is hosting it here.

I'm trying to work on getting it into SVN, but i haven't been able to talk with AndY without my internet going whacko yet.

Have you been able to get it into dev?

Well, we'll see. the instructions AndY sent me say to compile on normal settings as opposed to fast, but when I do normal It takes up 100% of my CPU power and doesn't do anything for at least an hour or so. I hope it can still get into dev, but I'm not sure.
