OW troop Spawn rant

Just another list, because the Spawns keep giving me so many damn problems!

-troops spawn with half shotguns and half smgs, even though I click the smg spawn button.
- all troops spawn at the same 5 destinations, even if I click a spawn button that is completely unrelated to that set.
- my logic_relay believes there is no such thing as "forcecooldown" even though I followed the instructions in the README file
- my rappeling combine will not even SPAWN...
- my logic_case looks like someone decided to vomit outputs everywhere... it's a real mess!

I know I missed something bloody important, or the spawns just hate me.

I can see why they are being altered, if not completely replaced... I just hope that update comes out SOON so I can actually get my entry in on time... by which I mean at all.

Well, like I said in the other thread, don't wait for the new entities.

After Friday's release, we'll be around more often to help people out with mapping issues, so stop worrying so much. :)

Jgoodroad, my dear friend. Do you know what i did when i first opened the example VMF the dev team provided? I selected all the entities used for troop spawning and created a prefab. Now if i want to create a spawn anywhere in my map i simply load it up. If it needs modifying, all too easy.

I very surprised someone with your mapping expertise did not do the same. I feel somewhat disappointed in you. :harhar:

In all seriousness, anyone mapping for Overwatch should do the same. As previously mentioned, the current spawn system is being replaced anyway. There is no sense spending good time setting up a spawn system if you're going to remove/upgrade it in a few short weeks. The example VMF can be found here. It covers spawning Metrocops, Manhacks, Turrents and of course, Combine Soldiers.

the problem I have with prefabs is that I never got them to work properly, they rarely appear and when they do they are in some far off distance from where I wanted them to be...

Interesting. My prefabs never load where i click but because they are highlighted/selected i simply move them in to position. I've never had any trouble actually loading them though...
