Just saying, how about if the OW team added OW_Breach_classic for public use?

would help people see how the devs map, how the objectives are done ect.

I would prefer the ol' fashion way...

besides... it just doesn't feel right, even if it's for good reasons... and I don't feel like downloading more programs.

Just download it and do it. Decompiling maps is an excellent method of learning that doesn't require you to rely on other people to hand you shit. There should be nothing wrong with it if you are just learning and not copying their crap.

I understand, I am not saying it is wrong... it just doesn't feel right. Besides, having the VMF avaliable for all is more applicable for the community.

The VMF is available for all, if you just decompile the map. I don't understand your desire to be lazy and have shit handed to you on a platter when it is there and available for you to acquire on your own. It comes across to me as if you have a book in front of you that could give you all the knowledge that you seek, but you will not sully yourself with reading it and are only willing to accept the knowledge if somebody reads it aloud to you.

Suggesting an alternative is great, but it's not your place to tell him what he can and can't request.

I'm honestly getting annoyed at the two of you fighting in every thread.

Edit: As for the map, trust me, you don't want it. At 150% of the entity limit, it's a massive headache to understand what the heck is going on. Once all the new entities are out, we'll be able to drastically reduce the amount of entities used. At that point, we'll make more example maps and we'll release an updated version of a classic map.

I too find the concept of decompiling a map to be somewhat...wrong. However due to the inability to find specific tutorials regarding certain matters, i am fast considering decompiling maps for learning purposes. It could also be a good way to update older, more popular maps that have been abandoned by their creator -provided credit is given where credit's due.

just saying me and braddollar have worked things out for now... a "truce" for the good of the community, There are somethings in my head I just can't explain, and although it might be considered lazy I still would not like to decompile maps... even if it's easy and fast and helpfull, it's probaly related to one of the many metal disorders that run in my family, or perhaps a chemical imbalance or somthing, I should see a doctor when I have the time.

This can only be compared to a whining, old, married couple.

Decompiling any map is alright as long as the mapmaker has agreed that it is fine to do so, there should be no moral qualms about it unless you intend to copy parts of it without permission.
The devs seem to have given permission, so just download VMEX and do it yourself.

I have no problem with people decompiling our bsps to take a look inside, as long as they don't re-release the map as their own, of course.

By the way, don you guys have a license for Overwatch? That would be copyright violation right? I've seen a Terms of Service around here somewhere... Oh well, if you don't, might I suggest a "Copyright-Attribution No Derivatives" license, its free and provides security for a Terms of Service and robbery/fraud of any name/phrase etc. you guys claim to have. Just saying lol.

Now, back on topic. I agree that the Overwatch team should not actually give out the bsps. Although if you really need the help, get VMEX and get the bsps. Its like school, teachers aren't going to give the answers to the tests, yet they will tell you the questions on the test *cough* the answers *cough*

How are we going to get our hands on the vmf. files?

VMEX decompiles .bsp files into .vmf files. The .bsp files are readily available in your Overwatch folder.
