(Blueberry is the heavy that picks a wire)
Here's the first video i took of my map: http://www.wegame.co.../custom-ow-map/
More will be coming shortly, once i make more videos of it.
My intent for the map "ow_aftermath" is to have a bunch of side buildings with different objectives and a big dip in the middle where the water once was. There's also going to be a second fort on the other side that leads to a platform with a dropship (maybe?) on it as the means of escape. I'm also planning on making a system of pipes like the sewers in the original 2fort.
Edit: I'm trashing the sewers idea, don't think i'm experienced enough with mapping to create something like that just yet.

I don't know how else to say it man, what your doing is stupid. If mapping is a hobby, you aren't good at it. If intelligence isn't your strong point, I can see why. If creativity isn't a major thing you think about/want to be into, don't even try.
Purpose, Intelligence, Creativity. This is what makes Source SDK mapping what it is. You CANNOT do this if you don't have those three things.
Sorry for being harsh dude, but that's the way I and everyone sees it. Ridiculous. Jgoodroad you wanna add anything?

I was alluding to his lack of skill and experience, it's obvious that he has only been mapping a short time... but where did this talk about plot and setting come it? I understand it's not the most logical senario but that doesn't mean it would be a bad map... heck it was suggested that someone model a fish for the melee weapon competition... If he had the experience he could have very well made his version of a 2fort like map, especially if he had the ability to make custom textures.
and where does his intelligence and creativity come in to play? I still recall my first map, it was a fullbright square with a crowbar and a bunch of NPC_breens... If I were to talk about his mapping skill I would note how it seems illogical, how his tower looks really blocky, how his walls are FAR too thick, and most importantly how he used an overlay texture as a block... that doesn't even LOOK right.
but he seems to have bit off more then he can chew, I would advise he start with something more simple and from scratch, and that he SHOULD NOT make a giant block to represent how large he wants the map to be, and should build the ground block by block... I would also say he should not enter the contest untill he has made several more test maps, but If he wants to he has all the right to.
really Joker, what the hell... all because his map is shit doesn't mean he should give up and not try.

Woo, wasn't ready for that, but I said you could be harsh so thanks for the input. I'm gonna keep going with this anyway though. Oh and also, didn't it say somewhere that the story for the map didn't have to be completely serious? I thought a little creativity and branching out was encouraged...

Your map does not need to be based in the HL universe at all.

I was not expecting such a thing to ever occur on the OW forums... but I guess there is a first time for everything.
The OW team DOES encourage you to go wild and I can only guess they would be disappointed if someone didn't make a loony map... what would Zombie Master be without them?
I'll tell you what it would be... it would be less popular. Some of those maps are damn good fun.

Woa, didn't expect that. Shit, I thought you took it as seriously as I did. Though yeah, the inexperienced thing is one thing. But uh........
Fuck.

I see what you mean by that and I agree I don't really know enough about mapping to be entering contests expecting to get somewhere, but I figure A. as long as there is no loss involved why not try it? and B. It could be a good learning experience. And so far it has. the first time I opened hammer I just saw an overwhelming amount of buttons that had no function to my inexperienced eyes. Now I think I've got the general idea and the basic skills needed to make a halfway decent map.
