it's a fantastic game, made even better by the fact that it's free.

Minus 1 for coming here and trying to start flame bullshit. If you wanna play DotA, go play DotA, HoN, or wait for DotA 2. They are two different games, in the same genre, with different play styles. Meanwhile I'll be over enjoying fully free to play LoL with millions of other people.

Sorry, really wasn't looking for a flame war, though I guess I did sound like it.

I've tried to get into LoL. . . And it realy just doesn't feel the same.

Between the balance issues, the small but noticeable advantage players with lots of time (or lots of money) have via the champion / rune unlock system, and the removal of a lot of the more challenging to master gameplay mechanics, I just can't feel like LoL is as challenging, and I'm big on games that ask a lot of their players. I just keep getting a really casual vibe from it.

And you'd think that they could at least add voice chat. This isn't the year 2000.

There's much to be said for the free-2-play format. . . but there really can't be that many people who STILL haven't picked up a copy of warcraft 3. And with DotA getting the Valve treatment - next year, unless valve time is in effect - It's hard for me to want to switch to a different game and learn all it's idiosyncrasies.

I'll concede that DotA is harder to get into - but in my human and very biased opinion, it's far more than worth it if you're willing to spend the time to get better at it.

To each his own, I suppose.
