For some reason I was thinking about the posts about people not understanding the story for MW2. Eventually I cam across the conclusion you must have skipped every cutscene or something for you to have not understood it.

Hell, I'll type out the basic storyline as simply as I can so then you understand if you want.

Well the story didn't have any feel to it. What I'm saying is that there where so many holes and so many WTF that doesn't make any sense. So in the end there's no feel to the story and just feels bland.

Can you be more specific? What kind of holes? If you tell me where you lose the plot I may be able to clear it up for you, if thats what you want

Where do i begin. One why does Shepherd kill everyone when there was no point in doing so. Two why did Russia go to war when there where things called cameras giving proof that there was a Russia terrorist. I can go on but i can here what i think is thunder.Posted Image

I don't think he is saying that he's losing the plot, but that the plot is poor, with little reason for anything happening outside of "it advances the story"

Ok, I see what you mean.

First though let me take a look.

Shepard says at the begining of the game "I lost 40,000 people that day, and the world just fucking watched" Meaning he was angry at the loss of all his men. So in revenge of what the world "did to him" he goes and betrays the best soldiers. The 4 that survived the mass killings and stuck out like a thorn insulting him. He killed these two and anyone else allied with them to show the world.

Next we have the Russian terrorists. Yes of course there WAS video footage, but do you think anyone would bother to look at that when they've found a dead American? I think not. They already had "proof" that the murderers were American staring them in the face so why bother going over some silly tape?

What I'm trying to get across is that Mw2 had a brilliant plot but you had to SEE it. Think of it like the TV show LOST. People get confused all the time by it because it makes no sense, only because they don't look deeper than what they see.
So from your point of view, yes Mw2's story was just a half assed means of connecting a bunch of levels but if you look deeper at it you see the storyline quite cleary, how do you think I managed to get my answer? I didn't do any research, I just remembered what I had seen.

you didn't really look deep in it, in some ways you made it up to whatever you thort made the most senc, for example if i ask 10 MW2 fans about the plot i'm bound to come up with more than 5 answers. What i'm saying is it gives you a template and basicly tells you to fill in the spaces, but i digress (can't spell may bad) not meny stories are good in video game world but i must say i give credit with them trying to make a plot like a big hollywood movie, but it's just not for me Uncharted 2 did better and i'm just going to leave it there.

I thought the story for Modern Warfare was fine for the audience it was intended for. It's a no-brainer Hollywood action movie equivalent, whereas something like Half-Life 2 is the story for the sci-fi geek's of the gaming world. Plus it's worth noting that Infinity Ward has an FPS engine that's incredibly satisfying to play, they got that nailed first before they put any effort into the storyline and that's what matters to me.

a good fps game for me has the following:
explosions
destruction
moar explosions
heavy story that also rots itself into the level design
even maor explosions
destruction
blood
gore
explosions
destruction
an implosion just to give it a special taste
cuting of limbs aka dark messiah style
semi-linear paths
some hilariously stupid characters/moments
random events
updates
community
a couple of friends to play with and perhaps some alcohol(if you want to have some unpredictable fun  ) and where ready to go!

Hats.
Obviously, it worked for Valve.

Disclaimer: That was a joke. Hats are not what make TF2 fun. What DOES contribute to the fun of TF2 is the immersion. Everything from the customized voices for each character, to the characters' special personalities to the TF2's characteristic art style just makes it all fit together seamlessly.. or so I think.

Hats sort of just detract from the game to be honest.

I do agree. I was joking. The hats serve no purpose in TF2 with regards to actual gameplay. They're more of a social thing than anything else.

However, on the other hand, there is ONE thing that TF2 definitely does do right:
Constant updates with bugfixes/balance fixes/new maps.

How do Hats detract from America's #1 Hat Themed War Simulator?!?

How do hats add to gameplay? Time could be better spent developing something useful.

Hats are part of Valve's answer to other FPS' levelling up to get unlocks. It's something addictive to bring you back to playing, I don't think there's anything wrong with it apart from idiots idling, but you're always going to have idiots in any large scale gaming community.

For me, a good FPS is one that requires heavy level of teamwork and strategy. Can you guys get back on topic? Enough about hats and call of duty.
