Engine Error at startup

Posted by Henry on 21 August 2010 - 01:08 PM

Hello everyone!

I have a major issue causing me unable to play the mod.
Whenever I start it up I get as far as the loading screen before the menu when the game crashes.
Error message:

Quote

Engine Error
MountFilesystem( 421 ) failed: SteamMountFilesystem(5748,421,0x715fd58=,0x715fc48) failed with error 106: Failed to resize the cache file

So far, we've determined that this happens when the drive Steam is on is low on space. We're still investigating and will post again soon.

Yes, it seems that Steam creates some empty GCFs when they're available once you start the mod.

Same message and my HD is 90% full.

I have the same issue even after performing a disk cleanup.

Hello,

How much free disk space do you have?

sorry for keeping you hanging but I've fixed the problem by taking a close look through App C and getting rid of any unnecessary programs so yeah it was a space issue. Thanks for your help.

No problem. Glad you got it working!

Not really much we can do about this (Steam needs better space checking/error messages).
