Breach final objective

Currently the final objective on breach feels way too easy. All you have to do is run in, hit the button, and then survive. I think it would play a better if you actually had to run down the hallway to win.

Well the "win" is triggered by someone running over the doorway to the hallway. I'd personally prefer if there was some finale room at the end.

I'm fairly sure the ending is still under development, I doubt it will be staying exactly like that. Personally I think it should at least have a limit of how many players need to be alive before the resistance are deemed the winners, and perhaps have a more open layout like you've both suggested.

yes, a gauntlet would be cooler. Something where you're running away from combine that come from each side.

Yes there is potential space for a strider if you walk up of those stairs.

Agreed, a boss fight or some kind of final confrontation would be cool. I've been wondering whether there's a place for hunters in Overwatch; perhaps once the second-to-last objective is completed, the Overwatch player gets a one-time ability to spawn hunters, but with an immense cooldown time on spawning new units? So you've got the option to send several squads to try and cut the rebels off at the exit, or you can give them a boss fight in the open courtyard.

There will be no Hunters or other enemies from Episode 1 or 2 because then every player would need to own those games in order to play Overwatch. We're definitely discussing adding some custom enemies but that won't happen anytime soon. What's more likely is to see support for all the Half-Life 2 enemies first.

Ah, that makes sense. You definitely wouldn't want to limit the appeal, I'm just curious to see as many units as possible get a role in the game. And on that note, whenever Striders get implemented, that might be something to consider adding to Breach. The map has a feel of gradual escalation, so one last boss battle would be a thrill.

If I remember reading correctly elsewhere, in order to play Overwatch, you don't need Half-Life 2 so long as you have another source game. If that's the case, that implies that you can use the assets from Half-Life 2 without owning Half-Life 2, but this doesn't apply for Episodes 1 or 2? In order to use those assets, you have to own those games. Is that correct?

I agree, after the resistance blows up/ hacks the second objective, it just becomes way to easy. I see overwatch win the map maybe 15% of the time.
Boss fight at the end would be cool, but one thing that annoys me about the map is you can only summon the guy up in the tower once. I think it should get at least 3 charges.

Guy in the tower respawn would be nice.
Personally I'd like to see all of the spawns remain active after they are opened up. Allowing more use of flanking tactics.

The ending objective seems to be fun, in one game the devs were Rebels and me OW and i'd killed all of them apart from one who pushed the door button and fought off my soldiers until the door opened, pretty epic. It might not be if by that point all the rebels are still alive but when one player has to contend with your massing army it's pretty awesome.
