When I run the installer an error appears stating that i have to manually locate the SourceMods folder. After I browse and select the SourceMods file under SteamApps and click Install, it installs like anything else normally should. The issue is near the end,Error opening file for writing: \steam\games\Overwatch.ico . If i ignore it and continue the installation it finishes without any further issues but doesn't appear on my Games list even after i restart Steam.

Hello, did you already have a SourceMods folder (and something in it) or is this the first mod you install?

If it's the first, you'll likely need to install Source SDK Base 2007 first. Simply open your Games library, click View > Tools, then find/install Source SDK Base 2007 (it's free!).

Once that's done, restart Steam once, then try reinstalling Overwatch (be sure to restart Steam again at the end).

If you're still having issues, let us know!

I have installed plenty of mods before this one including Synergy, Paranoia and Half-Life: Zombie Edition, I also have Source SDK Base 2006 and 2007 installed already. I have tried your installation advice and it still pops up with the same error as before.

The error itself isn't that important and the installation should still complete successfully. We just need to figure out why the game isn't showing up in your Steam games library.

Go to your Overwatch folder (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\overwatch). Do you see a gameinfo.txt file in there?

If you do, grab it + the following files (also found in your root "overwatch" folder):
- installer.log (if you installed Overwatch from the installer .exe),
- updater.conf
- updater.log
- updater.log.1 (if found)
- updater.log.2 (if found)
- updater_errors.log

Zip them up and send them all to me (you can attach them in a forum PM) and I'll take a look!

Hi,

Got your files. So here's the problem:

Quote

Output folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\overwatch\overwatch

When you ran the installer and picked a destination folder, you picked C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\overwatch. Instead, you should select the SourceMods folder itself (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods).

Just delete the entire "overwatch" folder under SourceMods and reinstall using the correct path. That should solve it!
