I dunno. Does it increase system requirements?

Overwatch runs on the Source SDK Base 2007 already... That's the Half-Life 2: Episode Two engine.

Do you mean like using EP2 content? If so, that would be nice as I could use Hunters and stuff in my maps. (Finally!) But it might also exclude part of the community, who don't have EP2. So I vote to keep it as it is.

Well, technically you need it already.

No, you don't... and now that TF2 is Free to Play, anyone with Steam installed (30M+ people at last count) can just grab the SDK and play OW.

Limiting access to only those with EP2 purchased would be a bad move, in my opinion.

I see.

I'm not sure if I'm a little late to the discussion but;
Many Source Mods/Games (like Garrys Mod for instance) allow you to enable certain games or mods specific content to that particular mod simply by ticking a box. I'm not sure how that works but I've seen it in Garrys Mod, Synergy and Obsidian Conflict. For example, I enable HL2:Episode 2 content in GMod and I get EP2 specific NPC's and Maps.
Could a system like that work or would it be too difficult to impliment?

It could definitely work, but it seems like a lot of effort with very little gain.

I concur. Unless you somehow wanted to spring away from complete canon, and throw in a whole mumbo jumbo pack of stuff for varied and different levels and play-styles, a way like that wouldn't.

And it would likely divide the playerbase to peeps who only have hl2, or have ep1 or have ep2

Well, no. The Source SDK Base is free now. Doesn't matter what game you have.

Episode-specific content isn't included in the SDK Base.

Too bad, but I don't understand why we must buy episode 2 to play at the episode 2 mods, it was relased with TF2 and Portal which, I think, should support these mods.

Nope. They have got their own contents and the SDK base-orange box version wich means they only have the HL2 content with OB graphic, not the full content.

what about adding the hunter and the zombine in the mod without the reuirement, that owning the episodes....In SMOD: Redux the mod's author included the zombine in his HL2 campaign...

But of course, if it is legally...

Don't understand why it's illegal : Valve gave us the opportunity to make mods and customize them, and the hunter and the zombine entities are in the Hammer of the mod, just need to complete them.
