Whenever I try joining any of the game servers, I get an error telling me "This Steam account has been used to log in from another computer. To continue using Steam you need to login again".

I have tried all and any means of fixing this that I know:

Deleting ClientRegistry.blob
Restarting Steam
Logging in and out
Logging in and out on another computer, then logging in again
Reinstalling Overwatch (and restarting Steam both after the uninstall and reinstall)

Yet nothing helps. I only have this issue with Overwatch, all other games and mods work perfectly...
FYI I have the latest dev svn version. :)

I'll be thankful of any help, playing Overwatch alone by myself is getting boring!

Odd,

It's not an uncommon problem with Steam, but logging out then back in usually solves it.

Just to be clear, you're using the "Change User..." option to log out/in, correct?

Damn man, I would be very worried in your case. What that says, even if it could be a Steam or Overwatch bug, is that someone knows your account information and have logged in from another computer. To try and counteract this, go to Steam and select "Settings" then on that page, go to "Manage Steam Gaurd Account Security" and there should be a checkbox that says "Steam Gaurd Enabled(which should be checked) "Deauthorize All Other Computers" and "Disable Steamgaurd"

Check the boxes for "Steam Gaurd Enabled" and "Deauthorize All Other Computers" then log back in to Steam. Try it out.

The chances of that are very slim, so let's not cause unnecessary panic.

What I find ironic is that it happened to me today. I woke up at 9:51 AM because I was leaving for the zoo at 10:30. I check my email, and it said someone tried to log in to my Steam account at 9:24 AM. I was asleep. Who did this, I don't know, but Steam Gaurd saved my ass on that one. The email was unopened, so they didn't access my email, and they didn't get it.

Be sure to join the overwatch mod steamgroup, as we usually play during playtime events.

Edit: Just to be sure, scan your pc for keyloggers and such(My WoW account got suspended due to 'suspicious activity').

Well yeah, both that, shutting down steam, and simply closing steam and restarting it.

I don't think there are any other people having access to my account, as this bug only happens with Overwatch... Also if someone else had access I would have been logged out of steam.

I don't think it's a bug, but either way, it's not directly related to Overwatch since we don't have any access to the Source/Steam code that controls authentication.

Let's try something else. What happens if you create a local server?

At this point, I think it'd be a lot simpler/quicker to take this to the live chat. When you have a moment, click on the big blue WebChat button above (on the right) and hop in our channel.

Was this problem solved in the web chat?

I'm having this problem for the first time now too.
  • I've already tried to solve this by restarting Steam using the "Change User" button and by simply exiting the program.
  • I've deleted ClientRegistry.blob and relaunched Steam.
  • I am able to host a local server.
  • I've even changed my account password just for good measure.

Any help would be fantastic. :)

The problem basically resolved itself; we're not sure how/why (which leads me to believe that it's an issue with Steam).

If I remember correctly, the last thing he tested was a different version of OW (like -Dev v/s 1.3.5). It worked after that.
