The Mafia Game is a game of lies and deception, where an un-informed majority hunts-down an informed minority.

There will be two major sides, along with a few rogue characters. The two main sides are the Village and the Mafia. The village will make-up most of the population. Their job is to exterminate every hostile role still alive (Mafia, Cultists, Killers), but there is a catch, the only person a villager knows the role of is himself. The Mafia's job is to systematically eliminate the villagers until their numbers either match or exceed those of the village. There may be other factions if enough people join. Every week people will converse with each other, trying to prove their innocence while either finding those guilty or diverting attention to the innocent.

Monday through Friday will be the day stage. This is when the entirety of the village argues amongst itself, trying to gather information about each-other and find out who is the most, and the least, suspicious. They will also cast their ballots of who will get lynched during this time, like this:

Saturday and Sunday are the night stage. During this time, only PMs can be sent between players preferably adding me, the game master, as one of the recipients. During the night stage, Mafia will vote on who they wish to kill by telling me, again in italics,

This is also where special roles such as the cop, cultist, or framer will tell me who they wish perform their role's action on. For example:

On Monday, I will put on this head post all the information about what happened at the end of the day or night. Any information that only you are allowed to see will be PMed specifically to you. I will also post the format in which PM information is given to void any attempts at proving your role by giving others reports I have given to you, and to allow others to fabricate reports, opening-up more strategies for both sides.

To join, simply post in this topic that you wish to join the game. Once the game has begun though, others may not post in this topic until the game is over.

Possible Roles:

• Villager: Sided with the village. Has no special actions.
  
• Mafioso: Sided with the mafia. Has no special actions.
  
• Doctor: Sided with the village. Chooses one person each night. That person cannot die during that night.
  
• Cop: Sided with the village. Chooses one person each night. Will know whether-or-not that person is sided with the mafia.
  
• Vigilante: Sided with the village. Chooses one person each night. That person will die.
  
• Miller: Sided with the village. Has no special actions. Appears to be a villager to himself, but appears to be mafia when investigated or killed.
  
• Fool: Sided with himself. Has no special actions. Wins if lynched during the day.
  
• Godfather: Sided with the Mafia. Has no special actions. Appears to be innocent when investigated.
  
• Framer: Sided with the Mafia. Chooses one person each night. That person will appear guilty if investigated that night.
  
• Hooker: Sided with the Mafia. Chooses one non-mafia person each night. That person will not be able to complete their special action during that night.

• 6 People: 2 Villagers, a Doctor, a Cop, a Fool, and a Hooker
  
• 7 People: 3 Villagers, a Mafioso, a Doctor, a Cop, 2 Millers, and a Godfather
  
• 8 People: 2 Villagers, a Mafioso, a Doctor, a Cop, a Vigilante, a Miller, and a Godfather
  
• 9 People: 7 Vigilantes and 2 Hookers
  
• 10 People: 3 Villagers, 2 Mafiosos, a Doctor, a Cop, a Vigilante, a Miller, and a Framer
  
• 11 People: 2 Mafioso, 9 Millers
  
• 12 People: 2 Mafioso, 10 Millers
  
• 13 People: 4 Villagers, a Mafioso, a Doctor, a Cop, a Vigilante, a Miller, a Fool, a Godfather, a Framer, and a Hooker

If this becomes popular, I will make another game after this with Tier 2 Roles, however, I will probably not have competitive setups as aides and will have to either use non-competitive setups or make my own (which luckily I appear to have a knack for as said by several veterans).

Night 1:

Quentquent was murdered and found to be a mafioso.
Rickinator9 died from lack of activity and was found to be a vigilante.
Raphi123 died from lack of activity and was found to be a vigilante.

Village wins!

Ranma was a vigilante.

Way too complicated. You should probably just have "Villagers", "Mafioso", and a "Cop".

This remind me an other game : the werewolf of Thiercelieux. It's the same gameplay but the mafia is remplaced by the werewolves. And I love this game so I'm in !

(Years ago)The ZP:S testing team would play werewolf after our weekly testings. EXCEPT we had it themed after the movie "The Thing". So we had a Kurt Russel instead of a psychic and we had Things instead of werewolves.

Though I'm also the one who made the "Night at the Asylum" setup, probably one of the most confusing mafia game setups known to man. Then I called that "interesting". So what do I know?

The game starts now. Your roles are being PMed in a few brief minutes as I randomly distribute them.

Night 1 has come to an end.

It has gone as follows:

Quentquent has been found dead in his house. It was a messy ordeal, with several poorly-placed shots through the shoulder and general chest area, but what looks like a final triple-tap through the head finished it.

In an amazing stroke of luck, Quentquent was found to be the only mafioso in the town! Evidence includes an enragingly-clichéd fedora, a dented aluminum bat, and legal papers stating in painfully clarity that he was not in any way affiliated with the mafia.

In other news Rickintor9 and Raphi123 both died from radically extended sessions of You-Tube.

Due to the abruptness of this game, you are all receiving a new set of roles. As such, we are accepting new players again.

Yea, we need 5 people for this to work. This 3 vigilante 1 Mafia just doesn't work the same.
