Similiar to Company of Heroes, what if the Overwatch was able to purchase an upgrade that allowed soldiers to gain defensive bonuses when behind certain types of cover? Say, when they are shot at, if behind cover, the damage taken by the gunfire is decreased. So... If a soldier had 40 HP, and was behind a destroyed wall(covers up to his waist) the damage reduction from an SMG1(which does 5 damage) could be about 1 point less(so it would only do 4 damage)
It could fluctuate with different types of weapons, such as the USP Match, AR2, Shotgun, and other weapons.

Actually, the combine soldiers know where they can cover if the nodegraph is make correctly. I don't really understand why we must decrease the damages, its will be harder to kill a combine whit this.

Yes, i agree with Quenquent. Keep it realistic. If a combine is behind cover then he is harder to hit because of the smaller area, yet. Consequently, this idea would give defensive gameplay an advantage which means in most cases an advantage for the overwatch which is already very hard to beat.

The Combine know how to hide behind things. Don't need to make it harder for people who actually manage to hit them behind stuff.
