No one entered the modeling contest so I decided to make a lil shieldy shield. Here's a screen of what I've done so far (basically nothing) I'll update this thread as I make progress. http://yfrog.com/goshieldmodel0001j It's going to look like a three part shield thingy. It's hard to explain :p

Looks cool, but is that for the resistance or the Overwatch? Because riot shield soldiers would be really cool. Make the Rebels think and gives the Overwatch yet another tactical desicion.

There really needs to be some sort of back story on the riot shield as to how the rebels got it and if its combine tech or not.

Because an object that does not make total sense must have some sort of back-story. This is based-on the Half-Life universe and therefore things must be made pseudo-canon.

I totally disagree. It adds nothing to gameplay, who cares. Don't waste time on it, spend time on important things.

You see, a brain with mediocre creative ability could think something up in about twenty seconds. Adds nothing to the gameplay, but its actually fun those making it. Example:

The riot shield was stolen from the Metro Police during a Rebel raid.

Your turn.

How about this:

The rebels found that the combine barriers, while sufficiently see-through, possessed the very latest in combine bullet-stopping technology. So, during their many raids/espionage missions/grocery shopping trips, the resistance acquired as many of the barriers as they could, and weld their many crowbars to each of them. After a while though, the combine started to notice the emerging deficit of their precious barriers. This enraged the overwatch most of all. It therefore sent as many combine troops as possible to hunt down the rebel troops and take back the stolen riot shields from the resistance.

Back to the other topic, I love the shield you made, but i think it would be better for the combine. the rebels' riot shield needs to be see-through for gameplay, it wouldn't really help to have a large mass blocking you view on the screen.

Excuse me but this topic is about the shield backstory or the WIP riot shield model?
