SO, it turns out OW maps need a minimap in order to be playtested, here is a wiki page for those who want to add that overview found in OW maps
http://developer.val...m/wiki/Overview
However, some people (myself included) might still have trouble (at the time of writing this I STILL don't know how to connect the VMT file to my map (I.E. how to have the map appear ingame)) so post your questions here, and hopefully they will get answered.
It will also help the devs, If they think explaining it to me was confusing, I am sure they would not want to answer the same question(s) twice. so this will also act as an archive for future reference.

When you create the overview material (vmt) as it says in the wiki:
UnlitGeneric
{
$translucent 1
$basetexture overviews/mapname
$vertexalpha 1
$no_fullbright 1
$ignorez 1
}
The $basetexture overviews/mapname where mapname is the name of your map of course and then it should work in your map.
And don't forget about the script too.

You provided the tutorial above, and thanks to you i managed to do this. If i can do it, so can you. Here's a tip though, use VTEX not VTF_Edit. I don't trust those 3rd-Party add-ons enough, i trust in Valve.
Also, read the links. The "Creating a material" and "VTEX" pages were infinitely helpful.
