Greetings!

We hope you're all still enjoying Overwatch and its latest update (1.2.2). As always, we're hard at work preparing the next major release (1.3.0), and we have quite a few surprises lined up for you. Be sure to keep an eye out for our upcoming Progress Report to get a sneak peek at what's to come.

Since the last release, we've been sifting through the feedback you've been posting, and it's clear to us that you all want more maps to play. We're working as fast as we can on our own levels (Crossroads, Coast and a few more surprises), but we know that won't be enough. Community maps are the answer.

The original plan was to release the FGD to a select few alongside 1.3.0, but we had a better idea. Over the past two weeks, we've been working to improve our custom entities, implement a few new ones and completely overhaul our FGD, and we will be releasing these updates to the general public in a patch early next week, dubbed 1.2.5.

In addition, we recently unveiled a brand new section of our community site: the Resources section. In it, you'll find the Articles database, which houses a growing number of guides and tutorials regarding every aspect of Overwatch, like making custom levels (including a complete specifications sheet for each of our custom entities), downloading patches using the Updater utility (and eventually configuring it to work with your own project or mod), and even tips & tricks for writing posts on our forums.

I'll be writing a short Blog post soon describing how you could help us fill it with relevant information. In the meantime, take a look at what's already there and let us know what you think! You can access the Resources section by clicking the Resources link above (in the main navigation bar).

With the release of 1.2.5, the slew of mapping tutorials we'll be posting alongside it, and the one-on-one live support we'll be offering level designers, we hope to have a few community maps ready for release in the very near future (and more on the way). We're anxious to see what our community mappers can come up with, as they definitely have more freedom to go wild than we do.

As a final note, we're asking that all community mappers designing a level for Overwatch visit our IRC channel (click the Live Chat button above) to speak with me (AndY) about the upcoming FGD release.

Game on!

Easy, just click on Chat at the top-right, enter a Nickname then click Connect. It'll do the rest on its own!
