Already have Overwatch installed? You can use the included Updater Utility to update to the latest version with only the click of a button!

The utility was designed to be a simple to use, lightweight but powerful tool to keep your local copy of Overwatch up-to-date. As we are committed to releasing frequent updates, the utility will help you, the player, download and install patches with as little hassle as possible.

How does it work?

When launched, the utility communicates with one of our central servers. It will first check the version of Overwatch you currently have installed to determine if an update is required.

If a newer version is available, it will then download a manifest (which contains a list of changes and actions, such as verify, add, delete and update) and a highly-compressed package containing all of the files that need to be updated.

Once the download is complete, all files are updated to the latest version.

How do I update?

When you launch Overwatch, a panel will be displayed at the top-right corner, indicating whether or not an update is available. If one is available, you will see the following:

Click on Update.

Overwatch will then close and launch the utility, which will update all files then relaunch the game. If the update was successful, you should see the new version number in the top-left corner.

Note: The Updater doesn't currently display a progress bar when downloading files. If you don't see anything happening, don't worry! It's downloading the package, which could take a bit of time depending on the speed of your Internet connection. Just let it go, grab a cookie, and it'll be done before you know it!

It doesn't seem to be working. What do I do now?

The utility isn't perfect just yet. We are still working hard to improve it and some issues may crop up in the meantime.

If you're having problems updating Overwatch, contact us! You can reach us on our Community forums, in Live Chat or by email: support@overwatchmod.com

Whatever you do, don't uninstall the game! The "overwatch" folder contains important error and log files that would help us track down and fix the problem you're having.

USERS TRYING TO UPDATE FROM VERSION 1.1.0: If your Steam installation is located on a hard drive that is different from the drive where Windows is installed, the Updater Utility you currently have will not be able to update your copy of Overwatch to the latest version. You will need to redownload the installer (Overwatch_112.exe or newer) and use it to bring Overwatch up to the latest build. The new Updater Utility (included in 1.1.2 and now 1.2.0) will function correctly no matter where Steam is installed. Again, this only affects users who still have version 1.1.0 installed. Users upgrading from 1.1.2 or newer are not affected. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work hard to improve our utility!

Enjoy!
